The latest version of Windows is called Windows 7, this replaces Windows Vista which was released in 2007.

This is a choice dependant on the processor in your PC, if you have a 64bit AMD Athlon for example buy the 64bit version of Vista |

If your PC is not very powerful then you may find it more cost effective to replace it as the hardware requirements for Vista are high.
